JOURNAL NO.2: MY DUTIES AND OBLIGATION AS A FILIPINO CITIZEN

After reading module 2, I learned about the rights, duties and responsibilities of a Filipino Citizen which it includes abiding laws that is implemented in the country. Just like what I had shared in my comment on our Facebook group, Thomas Jefferson says “Ignorance of the law is no excuses in any country. If it were, the laws would lose their effect, because it can always be pretended.”. It means that if I do against one of the law, I cannot be use the reason that I didn’t know that there an existing law like that. So, it is my duty to know the laws to limit and control myself to avoid doing against it.

I also read on it that it is one of my obligation as Filipino citizen to register and vote in times of election. On this part, I remember that I didn’t do this obligation on last election because I didn’t be able to go on our barangay to vote since I am here in Puerto Princesa City. I am hoping that I will always perform this obligation on the next election with wise decision in voting leaders in local and national. I think it also my duty to respect my fellowmen which I think most of the time I am doing this. In my observation in myself, I respect everyone’s thoughts, communicate with them in a respectful way specifically when it is our first time to talk to each other, if they are professional or elders and even younger than me or same with my age.

Furthermore, it is my duty to have a better life wherein I think I can achieve that if I will be able to get my licensed in teaching and teach well to impart knowledge to the youth. In connection with this, I can also help for the progress of the country through giving literacy and numeracy to the youth whom expected to be the hope of the country in the next generation. Lastly, I will consider this as my duty, to support the programs, activities or services that is being conducted or performed in the whole country and even those localized programs in line with showing unity and active.
